Drama is an art form with a discrete body of knowledge including conventions, history, skills and methods of working. Drama fosters an understanding of continuity and change, and of the connections between different time and cultures. It provides opportunities to explore social, cultural, ethical and spiritual beliefs, including the diverse values of Australian culture.

The course aims to help the transitional process from primary school into high school. Drama activities are based on students getting to know one another and workshopping key problem areas faced by all year 7 students.

9 AND 10 DRAMA Back To Top

The aim of the Drama 9-10 syllabus is to engage and challenge students to maximise their dramatic abilities and enjoyment of Drama and theatre through making, performing and appreciating dramatic and theatrical works.

Students will learn to appreciate and perform the following:

Realistic drama

Mime

Script writing

Greek Drama

Shakespearean Drama

Improvisation

Play building

Makeup

Stagecraft

Comedia del arte

Heading and Performing of plays.

Year 9 and 10 drama is subject to change, in consultation with students.

Year 10 students will produce a play as a trial assessment task.

Drama is a collaborative experience, where one can explore many different personal attributes in a fun, exciting and supportive environment. It is also a subject, where students can develop social skills and become more confident within themselves.
