Science is another important part of any student's education, as well as being a vitally important life skill. This is why Marsden High School has 6 Science rooms all of which are fully equipped to conduct experiments and many other forms of exciting and interesting Scientific work.
Our science staff are of the highest calibre and teach the subject with great enthusiasm and expertise. We believe that our science department not only educates students of the practical applications of science but also gives them an advantage if they were to enter science as a profession.
Junior ScienceThe Junior Science Syllabus encourages students to look at the world around them and develop an interest in natural phenomena. Students develop skills in conducting experiments and manipulating scientific equipment. Year 10 students of Marsden High are involved in Science in the City, part of National Science Week on an annual basis. The younger students get to experience a visit by the reptile park where they pet alligators and crocodiles or have snakes slither over them.
Senior ScienceThe study of Senior Science Stage 6 provides students with a contemporary and coherent understanding of some of the basic laws, theories and principles of Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Earth and Environmental Science and their application. It includes an examination of the technology that uses these laws, theories and principles and the impact of this science and technology on society. It reflects the interdisciplinary nature of science with a focus on the interdependence of science, technology and society.
