MARSDEN HIGH SCHOOL has had an international students program for more than 10 years. This year we have approximately 60 international students predominantly from China, Korea, Vietnam and Thailand. The students are supported by 4 coordinators; Ms Margaret Paczkowski, a Deputy Principal Ms Tina Mo a Language Teacher and two administrative staff, Mrs Fiona Fabbi and Mrs Sharron Walden.
Students gain every advantage from being in a school that has high academic expectations whilst supporting the wellbeing of every student. It is expected that most international students will be on a pathway to university. Students are able to study electives in their own language either by doing Chinese or Korean at school or another language at Saturday School. Extra tutoring support is also provided in the library for students requiring help with their english writing and/or mathematics.
Various activities are planned for international students during the year such as a Sydney orientation day and putt putt golf. The students have enjoyed getting together for some "Aussie food" provided by the school once a term during lunch time. At these lunches students are informed of school procedures and students achieving well academically are recognised.
For more information please contact one of the international student coordinators at the school.
